Oxygen Concentrators supplied under NHM support are specific for the purpose of ensuring availability of Oxygen in the public healthcare facilities closer to the community and hence, are deployed at the Community Health Centres (CHCs) and the Primary Health Centres and Sub Health Centres including the Ayushman Bharat – Health and Wellness Centres.

States are given the flexibility to allocate these OCs to Community COVID Care Centres (Community CCCs) established closer to the people, as per the guidelines shared by the Ministry viz SOP on COVID-19 Containment & Management in Peri-urban, Rural & Tribal areas (https://www.mohfw.gov.in/pdf/SOPonCOVID19Containment&ManagementinPeriurbanRural&tribalareas.pdf).

Oxygen concentrators cannot be substitute for oxygen cylinders or oxygen supplied through manifold system/gas pipeline in hospitals but are an intermediate measure that will help primary care settings to provide effective COVID19 response.
